My name is Helen Snyder. I am currently a senior at Michigan State University, I’m studying History and I am completing a minor in Museum Studies. Part of the Museum Studies program is an internship and digital portfolio. I completed my internship at the MSU Museum, in the Education Department, during the Fall 2019 semester. I worked on a variety of projects during this time which I have written about on this blog. Check them out!
I have worked on a variety of projects for my Museum Studies program including working as a co-curator for an exhibit during Spring 2019 for MUSM 488 (Museum Curatorial Practices). During that class I also worked as the Head of the Hospitality and Evaluation Committee.
During the Spring 2019 semester I also worked on a semester long Digital Humanities project with the LEADR lab at MSU. We created a website focusing on the food history and culture of the Eastside Neighborhood of Lansing, Michigan. I worked on community outreach as well as collect many of the interviews and photographs on the website. You can find the project here: Eastside Foodways.
Outside of my academic work, I’m also involved in the Michigan State History Association. I was the President of the Association for the last two years, leading the weekly meetings and developing events for the club in collaboration with the MSU History Department faculty and graduate students.
